Friends and Family DBT Skills Class with Ethan Lechner, LCSWA
Do you have a close friend or family member who’s in DBT treatment, or who you think would benefit from treatment? These are folks who may be highly sensitive, may have impulsive behaviors or struggle with self-harm and/or suicidal thoughts or behaviors.” If so this class might be for you.
There are a couple reasons we’re starting this group. When a person needs DBT treatment, not only is their own life deeply challenged, but their struggles also impact those close to them. If close friends and family can get DBT skills training of their own, they’ll learn ways to more satisfactorily navigate this tough emotional terrain. They’ll learn ways to foster a better life for themselves and to support their loved-one’s journey in treatment.
The group will meet weekly for 12 weeks, and will be done in an online format from beginning to end. Participants will walk away with core DBT skills of emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. Many people around the world are finding these skills to be life-changing.
We will start in June, with day and time TBD depending on what will work for the most people.
